- The annual open house for How To Make (almost) Anything will be at 5:00 on Tuesday December 17 on the 6th floor of MIT's building E14:
- We're pleased to welcome Marissa Marcoux, who is taking over as CBA's Assistant Director from Joe Murphy (who is moving into MIT's central research administration):
and to welcome Dan Gilbert, who's taking over from John DiFrancesco as CBA's Laboratory Director:
- CBA received the first US award from ARIA, to study machine learning systems that can learn their own construction:
- Alfonso Parra Rubio collaborated with Zund on using their flatbed cutters to produce folded metal sculptures:
Our newest tool is an 18,000 pound Hurco swivel head 5-axis mill:
- We hosted a visit from the Berlin Philharmonic on music technology:
and we hosted a notable group of scientists and artists to explore the science behind Einstein on the Beach:
- A CBA patent has issued for precision planar coil placement for three-dimensional inductive sensors:
- Neil Gershenfeld did invited talks for the Materials Research Society on Open Metrology for Materials Science and on Expanding Access to Advanced Manufacturing with Biopolymers:
and he presented a replicator roadmap for the Foresight Institute:
which prompted a gathering of CBA Bay Area alums:
